David Waggonner Presents at Shanghai-Rotterdam Water Conference at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai

David Waggonner shared his expertise on urban water management with planning professionals from around the world at the Shanghai-Rotterdam Water Conference, part of the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.  According to the Rotterdam Water City website, "[t]he Shanghai-Rotterdam Water Conference offered an excellent opportunity to share and exchange knowledge and experience. A number of lectures addressed topics such as storm-surge barriers, adaptation strategies, rainwater storage and ecologically sustainable flood management."  The presentation included ideas developed through the Dutch Dialogues research initiative, which aims to embrace water for new public amenities and improved flood protection in New Orleans.

New Dutch Dialogues website goes online

Following the success of the third Dutch Dialogue conference and the presentation of the work done there at the American Planning Association's national conference, the Dutch Dialogues team has launched an improved website. While focussed primarily on showcasing the many hand- and computer-renderings of the conference participants' innovative ideas for water management in New Orleans, the site also features information about the participants, press about the Dialogues, news about ongoing work, and a blog featuring related ideas.

Construction begins on the Academy of Sacred Heart’s Arts and Athletics Complex

The office is has begun the construction phase of the new $10M Arts and Athletics Complex for the Academy of the Sacred Heart in uptown New Orleans. The project will incorporate a new gymnasium and running track, training and weight rooms and a number of arts spaces for dance, choral, arts and music instruction.

David Waggonner selected to Mayor Landrieu’s Flood Protection & Coastal Restoration Task Force

Dutch Dialogues founder David Waggonner has been selected to New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu's Flood Protection & Coastal Restoration Task Force.

The Task Force's mission, according to the official Transition New Orleans website, is to "recommend actions that the Mayor can take to enhance the security of our coastline and structural defenses and to protect the City from floods."
